The Importance of Financial Planning

In a world where spending money feels like it never ends, your friendly wealth management firm is here to reassure you that there are ways to make your finances a bit easier. Whether it’s just a little guidance or an entire spending plan, it’s our priority to help you get on the right track.

Everyone’s financials look different, and no matter where you find yourself, there are positive strategies for everyone.

That’s why our team takes the time to educate each client about the importance of financial planning and starts this process by getting to know who you are.

Yep. We’re not just your average financial planner in Cody, WY. We’re intentional about relationship building, and you’re never just another name on a list. You’re our priority.

So whether you’re on the fence about meeting with a financial planner or just looking for a bit of advice, we decided to put together a list of the importance of financial planning. Here are seven tips for setting yourself up for success:

Basic Steps

  1. Set some goals. Are you saving for something big like a house? Maybe for something smaller like a vacation? Whatever your goals may look like, do yourself a favor and jot them down somewhere (sticky note, journal, planner, etc.). Like any goal-setting process, you’re more likely to accomplish something when it’s written down somewhere.
  2. Create a budget. Sometimes, people have no clue what their spending looks like. With a budget, you’re able to give yourself an idea of what comes in and out each month. Here are some free tools to help you get started.
  3. Start an emergency fund. We don’t know what tomorrow holds. Your car could break down, and your pipes could burst. Being prepared with an emergency fund can help you feel at ease for any future emergency.
  4. Limit your debt. If you can, start chipping away at what has accumulated. Whether it’s student loans, credit card debt, or a mortgage, take steps to put more money towards the principal to pay less interest.

More Advanced Steps

  1. Save money for retirement. You may already be doing this, but this is a reminder to keep going. If you haven’t started this process already, we encourage you to get the ball rolling. And if you don’t know where to turn for help? Give our team a call.
  2. Consider investing. This is where these tips get a bit more involved. Investing is a great option when aiming to grow wealth; however, we encourage you to talk to a professional.
  3. Meet with a financial planner. To make sure all of your finances are in order, it will be helpful to meet with a professional. We’re not just saying this to get your business. We say it because we genuinely believe it will set you up for the highest level of success.

While these steps just scratch the surface of a lifetime of financial wellness, we’re confident they will help reinforce the importance of financial planning. Our wealth management team wants to help set everyone up for success.

If you ever have any questions about how to get on the right track with your finances, give our team a call. While we’re a financial planner based in Cody, WY, near the Absaroka mountains, we also provide remote financial services.
